Water Helps you Lose Weight

Water and how it can help you lose weight

Humans may live for a month or more without food, but only a few days without water; only oxygen is more important. Each day, the body loses up to three quarts of water. A loss of only 10-20% of the bodys water content could be fatal.

Fortunately, few of us are in danger of dehydration. But there is much more to water than simply avoiding dehydration. Our bodies are designed to use pure water in every system to maintain life and health. Water is critical to everything we do. The body uses water for so many processes. And lack of water has been linked to all kinds of problems. Here are only a few of the processes the body utilizes water for:

Digestion: Water is a component of gastric juices, pancreatic fluids, and saliva; Water transports nutrients through the digestive tract; and it dissolves nutrients.

Elimination: Water dissolves waste products of cells, transports waste out of the body through kidneys, intestines, skin, and lungs.

Circulation: Water transports nutrients and waste products in the blood and lymphatic fluids

Temperature: Water is a component of sweat to help the body maintain a constant temperature.

Absorption: Water transports nutrients into the cells for utilization.

Lubrication: Water lubricates the joints and your colon.

Lack of the proper amount of water can lead to problems with the functioning of these systems plus a whole lot more.

In our advanced society, we tend to think that we are getting our water intake by drinking any fluid that contains water, such as tea, coffee, alcohol, and other manufactured beverages. While it is true that these beverages contain water, the other ingredients contained in these beverages, deprive the body of more water than is actually contained in the beverage, leaving you even more dehydrated. It is totally counterproductive to drink these sort of beverages. If you do so, your body will require additional water to make up for the deprivation of water these beverages cause.

Let it also be understood that by the time your mouth becomes dry, and you feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated. This is the final signal that the body urgently needs water. A good sign that you are getting enough water is that your urine has either very little or no color to it. It has been said that many diseases have been caused by severe dehydration and they can be cured simply by drinking water. Obviously, this plays a major role on our stress because when our bodies are not physically functioning properly, stress is an inevitable response.
