Self Improvement

Why is it so hard to Change?

So, you say you want to do something different or be something different than you have been. You want to stop smoking. You want to exercise six days a week. You want to eat healthy food. You want to be a kinder, gentler person, who doesn’t rattle easily, you want to change your attitude about money, right? Honestly, who DOESN’T want these things for themselves?

So, what’s preventing you from changing for the better?

You might think that you just haven’t had the time, the energy, the motivation or the will power to change. You may be thinking that you just haven’t made those things a priority in your life or you really haven’t tried hard enough.

Is that really it? Do you just need to try harder?

So, try harder you do, but failure is the only result you have gotten with these things so far.

So, what’s really stopping you from becoming all that you can be?

It’s your self-image.

Your subconscious mind holds an image of who you are and how you see yourself right this minute. This self-image is a collection of all your past experiences and all of your habits throughout your whole entire life. It is how you truly think of yourself at the deepest level.

You see, your conscious mind see’s you in a way that would make logical sense and how you think you’d like to be or you “should” be. However, your subconscious mind knows who you REALLY are.

Your actions are based on that deeper reality.

You can not be any better than the self-image in your subconscious mind. That self-image is the blueprint for how you live your life. Its a road map for your subconscious mind so that the constancy remains because change is threatening to your inner being. Even when you logically know that the way you are living isn’t exactly right for you and your highest good. And even though you want to change so very badly to be a better person to yourself and to those around you. You simply can not perform at a different level than your self-image. You are always drawn back into what feels comfortable for you and you resist change. Change means death to your ego. And the ego fights to stay alive. So, the harder you try to change, the harder it fights. This is really what self-sabotage boils down to.

So what do we do now? Do you just stop trying?

Basically yes. Stop struggling to TRY and change your outer world. You don’t change by trying to fix the results that are being reflected to you. It’s like trying to change the reflection in the mirror. Your outer world is reflecting to you your own self-image. Until you change what’s being reflected from the inside, you will keep getting that same reflection. Only, it make keep getting worse because you keep getting more and more frustrated at the fact that you want something to happen “out there” and it’s still not happening and that continues to damage that self-image because now you just feel powerless over the problem.

STEP 1:
Stop being resistant to WHAT IS:
Accept, embrace and love that self-image even though it’s not what you want. It’s time to come face to face with your self-image and love that wounded little person for exactly who they are in this moment. It’s called getting out of denial.

STEP 2:
Feel whatever feelings you may have about having to let go of this self-image. There are benefits that you have been getting from the staying the way you have been. There may be fear or anger or anxiety about that. Get in touch with those feelings and see if these needs can be met in some other, more healthy way.

STEP 3:
In some heartfelt way, say goodbye to the old self-image. Let it go. Make room for your new totally healed, self-image to come in. Maybe by writing a good bye letter, a thank you letter, or imaging parting ways in some way in your mind.

STEP 4:
Envision yourself and your life exactly as you would have it. Imagine all the results you want to achieve in your life. And ask yourself, how do I need to BE in order to HAVE this? And if I was Being that way, how what I be FEELing about myself? And if I were FEELing this way, what would I be DOing, effortlessly, naturally, and easily that would bring about my desired results? Be ~ Do ~ Have in *THAT* order!

STEP 5:
Continue to develop your new self-image by repeating step 4 and taking the action steps you will be guided toward during your meditations.

As your self-image changes, your behavior that is spawned from that image becomes a more natural and effortless way of life.

And that is how you change from the inside.

Many of our Hypnosis CDs you find at Hyptalk.com take you through a similar guided process to help you bring about the true changes that you seek.
