The Greatest Love Of All? Learning Self-Love

Self-love is something that not many people spend their time on. By default, people think that they already “love” themselves, but there is a lot more to learning self-love than just being vain or selfish. Whitney Houston, the acclaimed singer, once said in her song that “learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all.”, but do you really know how to practice self-love?

Learning Self-Love Through Acceptance And Appreciation

Putting ourselves in front is sometimes not bad. Actually, putting yourself in front of everybody is just normal — it is our survival instinct after all. Still, there are many way to express self-love and the best ways revolve around acceptance and appreciation. Without these two, learning self-love can be quite difficult.

Accepting yourself and everything about you is the first form of self-love. When you accept yourself for who you are, even all of your flaws and imperfections, you will start to learn more about yourself and accept that YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE. Comparison and envy all starts when you don’t fully accept yourself for who you are. Do it and you will see a whole new perspective on self-love.

That being said, appreciating yourself is another recipe for learning self-love. Being able to pat yourself in the back and appreciating all the little things that you do on an everyday basis isn’t difficult to do — and you MUST do it from time to time. To appreciate yourself means to know what you can do and how you can do it. With appreciation, you’ll be much more open to your talents and abilities.
