The Importance Of Keeping Your Promises

Back during the 90’s, the Chicago Bulls was one of the most popular sports team in the world. It was during this decade when Micheal Jordan, the greatest basketball player ever to play the game, was on top of his game.

Curiously, the Chicago Bulls found themselves in deep trouble when the Indiana Pacers, a team that no one expected to give them trouble, took their series to 7 games. After losing the 6th game, people asked Michael Jordan what he thinks of the next game. And his answer is one not to be easily forgotten:

“I never make promises. I don’t even make promises to my wife… but we will win the next game.”

Keeping Promises Is Not As Easy As It Seems

In the end, Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls were able to win their series against the resilient Indiana Pacers. The Bulls went on to win the championship that year and Jordan wrote another storybook ending to his legacy. But that’s not what I am trying to point out here.

You know what it is?

Making a promise is not difficult. But keeping the promises that you make requires a different level of mentality. Today, a lot of people have forgotten the importance of keeping promises and this sometimes leads to conflict and suffering. If you don’t have the strength of character and perseverance to keep the promises that you make, people will start to lose their trust in you. Simply put, they won’t believe you the next time around.

Fulfill Your Promises And You Will Win The Trust Of People

You will start to feel the confidence of people in you and this can lead to positive things.

If you are not confident that you can live up to your promise, having the right mentality can really help you get started.
