Controlling Your Food Intake

Controlling your food intake is one of the first things that you have to take into consideration if you want to lose weight long term. Like what most gym buffs like to say, “a six pack ab is made in the kitchen, not in the gym”. Part of this statement is true and it is all because of proper food intake.

Many people cling to weight loss pills, miracle foods and other “quick fix” solutions when it comes to handling their weight loss problems. And although diet can help up to a certain point, the science of losing weight is is really simple: burn more calories than you consume. Diet and exercise will of course play a major factor when it comes to this aspect, but so is the control of your food intake. If your food intake is too much and you don’t watch what you eat, losing weight will never be easy.

Why Is Food Intake Control Important?

Controlling one’s food intake is very important because it is one of the few aspects in weight loss that you can control. Certain factors such as metabolism and body composition cannot be fully-controlled by an individual but effort in controlling one’s food intake is definitely an issue that can be resolved. If you have the will to resist eating the foods that you know can add weight to your body or if you can control your food intake so that you won’t need to store more calories than you need, then you are definitely on the right track in losing unwanted weight.

Some people think that they can get away with improper food intake because they are blessed with a good metabolism. Although in some rare cases this might be true, a lot of times what people need is control and discipline when it comes to their food intake. This doesn’t come easy because you have to have a tough mental conditioning in order to resist the tasty foods that might tempt you to break your diet.

Having a well-conditioned mind is definitely something that you must have if you want to control your food-intake. Like what most people say, sometimes it’s all about the “mind over matter” all over again. If your mind is strong enough to veer you away from taking in food that will add up to your weight, you will have an easier time managing your food intake. Hyptalk’s Weight Loss Hypnosis series has a great collection of mind-conditioning tracks that you can listen to if you need that extra push to help you lose weight.

  • This confirms my personal approach to weight loss. Many people turn to miracle supplements and odd diets. The bottom line is you have to do the math. If you consume more calories than you burn, it won’t work. By writing down what you eat and counting calories as well as recording what you burn, you will lose weight if you stick with it.
