Emotional Issues and Weight Management

Do any of these situations sound familiar to you?

    * Childhood Sexual abuse - Weight gain is an effort to keep others away. You feel inappropriately responsible for the actions of others.

    * Childhood emotional neglect - Substituting food for nurturing and for (unreceived) attention and rewards.

    * Traumatic Childhood Eating Patterns -
o Overeating to make sure you had enough in case the food ran out.
o Eating quickly in order to leave the table.
o Overeating to rebel against "perfect parents" as a show of independent individuality.

    * Adolescent Trauma (rape, pregnancy) - The weight gain is symptomatic for extending protective boundaries to keep others away; sometimes a difficulty in saying "no" because of need for approval and, yet, fearing promiscuity.

    * Lack of Emotional Outlets -
o Eating to "stuff" feelings of anger which were not allowed to be expressed.
o Eating to cover unhappiness or other unacceptable expression of emotion.
          o Eating out of boredom.

    * Undeveloped Adult Coping Abilities - Eating out of fear or frustration when unable to cope with daily situations; a conflict between what you want and what is expected from others, usually due to overprotective parents. Overprotective parents can keep children from life experiences that teach them how to handle and cope with risks and responsibilities.

    * Obsession With Control - Anorexia (not eating) is a way of maintaining personal control in an "out of control" manner. The anorexic person has a distorted body image and is driven to manipulate their weight through excessive exercise, laxatives and small food intakes or large intakes of food from which they respond with self-induced vomiting to expel what they have just eaten.

    * Fear of Losing Control - Bulimia is an eating disorder based on mistrust of self. You usually feel depressed, guilty, nervous, anxious, and fear loss of control over eating habits; thereby, using self-induced vomiting for the control. This problem can cause dental problems, as well as lead to exhaustion.

Hypnosis will help you to control your weight naturally through the techniques of...

    * Discovering what underlying issues are causing your weight gain.
    * Reeducating your subconscious mind about ideas that may have been learned about eating at at young age.
    * Changing negative ideas about food to positive thoughts for letting go and releasing the weight.
    * Retraining your imagination to visualize a future more perfect image of self; living the improved behavior patterns.
    * Improved awareness of eating and exercise habits.
